Traditional Spanish Peñamellera Cuayau cow’s milk cheese, made from pasteurised cow’s milk in the towns of Peñamellera Alta and Peñamellera Baja, Eastern Asturias.

Peñamellera is one of the most famouse cow’s milk cheeses in Asturias. It comes in small pieces, 300 grams, and its buttery flavour makes it ideal to have as “fridge staple” for the whole family. It is a pure pasteurised cow’s milk cheese which, like other artisan-made cheeses, does not include additives or preservatives in its preparation.

A spanish cheese to take into account when preparing any kind of Asturias cheese board.

As with other cheeses from our store, it is recommended to bring the product to room temperature before serving, in order to enjoy its full flavour. To do this, just remove the product from the refrigerator 20-30 minutes before serving.

PRODUCT PRESENTATION

Peñamellera Cuayau cow’s milk cheese comes in vacuum-packed 300 g pieces.

Asturias Peñamellera cheese is a pasteurised cow’s milk cheese with a cylindrical shape and a rough and mouldy rind. When cut, Peñamellera Cuayau cheese is not very elastic and has occasional eyes. Visually, the wedge of cheese is white with yellow tones present in greater proportion as the cheese ripens. The cheese has lactic aromas of some complexity in its optimum ripeness, aromas of cheeses made from pasteurised cow’s milk. Peñamellera Cuayau cheese is very tasty, smooth, strong and buttery.
