La Peral cheese is made from pasteurised Friesian cow's milk to which sheep's cream is sometimes added to enhance the aroma and flavour of the cheese during maturing.

To enjoy all the flavour intensity of the cheese, it is important to remove the required amount of product to be served from the refrigerator about thirty minutes beforehand to allow it to settle at room temperature for serving.
