Gamoneu (or Gamonedo) cheese is quickly recognisable by its aroma and flavour with clear smoky touches, a result of the cheese-making phase in which high-quality woods are burned.
Gamoneu cheese, together with Cabrales cheese, are the two varieties most valued by Asturias traditionally-made cheese consumers throughout Spain.

El queso Gamoneu DOP se produce en los concejos de Cangas de Onís y de Onís; y es una variedad elaborada con leche de vaca, de vaca y cabra, o con tres leches a la que se le añade cuajo natural para después salar, orear y dejar acortezar durante unos días. Se trata de un queso totalmente artesano, ahumado, y que en ocasiones y dependiendo de su grado de maduración, puede presentar afloraciones de penicilium en su parte más cercana a la corteza. El queso Gamoneu es curado en cuevas naturales entre tres y cinco meses y da como resultado uno de los manjares más valorados de la gastronomía asturiana. PRESENTACIÓN En este caso presentamos el queso Gamoneu (Gamonedo) en piezas de 2,4 kilos de peso, enteras y aptas para su conservación. Recomendamos siempre extraer el queso Gamoneu al menos 20 minutos antes de ser consumido del frigorífico para permitir que recupere temperatura ambiente, y con ella sus sabores y matices que lo hacen tan especial.
