The term “formal” is a Spanish naming convention commonly known as “pago”, a classification applied to individual wineries or estates. The Asturias ‘formals’ located in the PDO Cangas geographical area are characterised by unique soil and microclimates.
The Valdemonje (Valdeconde formal) is a single variety red wine covered by the Cangas PDO made exclusively from albarín negrograpes, a native Asturias variety, and has a 13% alcohol volume.
This wine is made from a limited harvest from which 980 bottles were produced.
The black albarín grape variety is one of the emblematic varieties of Asturias. The careful wine-making process and 12-month ageing in excellent oak barrels provide its characteristic body and aroma.
