These pigs are fed on Asturias chestnuts and spelt and are part of a breeding project that seeks to preserve the dignity of animals by making sure they are happy pigs. The Asturias Gochu de Monte project is a pioneering initiative of La Casería de Crivencar that seeks to add value to pork meat, which has had a negative perception among consumers in recent years.
The Asturias Gochu de Monte is the result of the crossing Asturias sows with Duroc boars, a technique that improves meat quality and results in greater fat infiltration and therefore high quality sausages.
